John Carroll University, located in Cleveland, Ohio, is a coed liberal arts university grounded in the Jesuit, Catholic tradition. The university has some 3,500 plus undergraduates and just over 800 graduate students. Originally founded as St. Ignatius College in 1886, the university was renamed in 1923 to honor America’s first Catholic bishop, John Carroll of Maryland.

The Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education has promoted the region’s colleges and universities and the talent they produce for more than half a century. Its driving mission is to mobilize the region’s higher education and business communities for collaborative action to advance the region’s growth and development. NOCHE has three areas of focus:

Public Policy Advocacy

Engaging higher education and business leaders to positively impact higher education and economic development

Access and Aspiration

Generating greater support for and participation in higher education and ensuring that higher education is accessible to all who desire it

Talent Development

Strengthening the alignment between higher education and business to produce and retain more college graduates
