NOCHE Community Impact

NOCHE’s mission is to bring together the business and higher education communities for regional economic advancement.  NOCHE works with businesses, trade associations, nonprofit organizations, colleges and universities to prepare talented people for college and career success.  The following evidence shows the importance of NOCHE’s mission and NOCHE’s impact in the community:
  • NOCHE works with colleges and universities enrolling more than 225,000 students and awarding more than 40,000 degrees and certificates annually
  • Since January 2012, employers have posted more than 4,000 internship and job openings through NOCHE's online database and matching platforms
  • NEO Talent Exchange’s 916 reported placements since January 2012 have added $3,897,622 to payroll in Northeast Ohio
  • Since 2009, NOCHE has administered almost $900,000 in wage reimbursements to more than 400 interns at 100 companies from the Ohio Third Frontier Internship program and others
  • NOCHE publicly recognizes the region’s best interns and internship programs through The Expys, now in its seventh year
  • Northeast Ohio’s 30.7 percent college attainment rate increased about two percentage points between 2009 and 2012, which represents 58,000 more college degree holders

Research studies consistently show that innovation and education fuel a regional economy.  In Northeast Ohio, economic data show that occupations requiring postsecondary education generally have higher wages than average, are growing faster than average, and have lower unemployment rates.  This makes one conclusion very clear: college matters.
